One of Dubai's most startling features, is one that is not often talked about and is so often overlooked. The city that loves to do so many things on a grand scale, from the World's tallest building, the Burj Dubai and the World's only 7 star hotel, to the man made islands shaped like the all the countries of the World, is also a city that is, in the grand scheme of things, so young. |

Even as recently as the mid 1990's, Dubai had very few landmarks and it was definitely not talked about as one of the World's most exclusive and desirable tourist destinations. Go back as far as the 1970's and Dubai was little more than a sandy outpost in the desert. |

However, since the realisation, that Dubai cannot survive on its oil for ever, the desire to create that tourist hotspot was born, and Dubai has not looked back since. |
